Um… a little sun here please!?!

  • May. 17th, 2010 at 10:53 PM

Here in the Midwest the weather can be unpredictable, at best. This week we had rain, rain, cold rain, and more rain. Grrr…

I just so happen to love a rainy day, or three, but eight?!?! C’mon! I feel like I live in Forks (tee hee), only where is my hot-ass wolf-child? And what about that adorably pouty pale kid? I know why the good people of Forks don’t have any pets. No one, including me, likes to walk the puppy when it has rained for a week straight. No fun. *squish*

The really sucky part of a week long rain jag is that the SAD (Solar Absence Depression-that’s the real name for it right?) sets in. The common answer around here is “well, we haven’t seen the sun all week”. God forbid you actually have a reason to be grumpy or sad because it will quickly be dismissed with a “cheer up, I’m sure the sun will come out soon”. What a waste of time to actually be depressed. No wonder Seattle has the highest suicide rate! The sad thing is I could go sailing from a ten story building and some lame ass would pipe in with “poor thing, should have been taking a multi-vitamin”. So… a lot of laundry is getting done.

It is really cool here too. I think today’s high was like 59. In May. So much for global warming, huh? I did luck (lazy) out and still have some jeans and jackets hanging in the closet so my kiddos won’t freeze. I also picked up some really cheap, but super cool end of the season sweatshirts, hoodies, and jackets a few weeks ago when it was in the high 80’s. You thought I was nuts buying cold weather clothes in my tank top didn’t you? Ha! So while everyone else was dumping the mother load on swim suits and flip-flops preparing for summer I was pleasing my son with a $3 Shawn White zippered hoodie. In your face summer!

I should really quit complaining about this refreshing (really?!?!) cool weather. Before we can blink it will be 105 in the shade with 89% humidity. The only big time stinker of this weather is that the pools will open in like two weeks but won’t be warm enough to swim for another month. Let’s face facts here, this body is still nowhere near summer worthy anyway so… cheer up!
